There is a large range of not only block paving colours and styles available but also a variety of ways of installing your paving. We can highlight the benefits of each and why you should use certain laying styles over another.
HERRINGBONE PAVING
This is a very popular choice for paving and the most popular. It involves laying the paving in opposite directions at either a 45 or 90 degree angle which will create a “V” shape (depending on how viewed) that locks solid in position making it suitable for high traffic areas like walkways, driveways and patios. Its popular for its lasting strength. As your Kent driveway paving contractor of choice, we can walk you through some of the driveways and patios we have done in this pattern.
STRETCHER BOND
Stretcher is a simple yet visually effective and easy method to design and install. The paving is laid side by side in a linear pattern that makes smaller areas appear larger. This style of paving looks beautiful on curved areas or on a pathway. You will see it commonly in these areas but not very often on a driveway or large open areas. It is important to make sure this type of paving is properly restrained to ensure no movement. When you combine it with offset colors like in the picture, you can really create a memorable driveway.
BASKETWEAVE
This style of paving design uses vertical and horizontal pairs for a vintage look and gives it a feel that parallel the namesake. This style mimics old fashioned hardscaping and there is no need for cutting any of the interlocking paving used if the area has straight outer edges. This can be a great way to make your outdoor patio more interesting. You can combine this pattern with herringbone paving to give unique patterns and designs on your driveway or patio as well.
RANDOM STAGGERED
This beautiful design is characterized by using cobble stones or paving blocks that are cut to different sizes. The resulting random series of different lengths fit together in an eye catching way which is perfect for driveway paving, patio paving and other areas where you want to combine the beauty and durability of your paving stones. There is a variety of finishes available as well from smooth to the tumbled style finish. It is suitable for all types of houses as the colour and style will allow it to blend with any type building.
